Singapore came up short in what was a must win game for the hosts in their last game of the round robin against Thailand, who just  needed a draw to go through to the finals.

The first chance of the game fell to Sakunpithak in the very first minute after a sloppy Singapore back pass, fortunately for the home side, the forward scuffed her shot wide.

You could see the nerves getting to the Singapore players as they were producing a number of unforced errors, one of which eventually led to the first goal after some good pressing by the Thai players, the shot turned in by Sakunpithak.

The first penalty corner of the game fell to Singapore in the 10th minute, which was very well worked and brought the best out of Thai keeper Siraya.

A stop start game was the order of the 1st half with neither team creating any clear chances.

Indeed, the best chance of the half fell to Thailand.  Kanyanut looked to make most out of a loose pass by Singapore defender Eunice, it needed a fantastic save from Singapore keeper Xinni to make sure Thailand did not double their lead .

The half ended 1-0 in favour of the visitors.

The 2nd thirty-five minutes started the same way the 1st half ended, start-stop until goalscorer Sakunpithak went on a dazzling run only to be denied by on rushing Chua Xinni.

Singapore were not allowed to get out of their own half for a good 15 minutes courtesy great pressing by Thailand . The crowd were doing their best to get the team going but to no avail as an efficient Thailand had come with a good gameplan.

The Thai players saw out the game with relative ease , even a late Singapore surge could not stop the visitors from getting to the final.
